While at court are being held celebrations for the coronation of the new Emperor Anastasius and his marriage to Ariadne, comes the news that the troops of the invading enemy Vitaliano have crossed the Bosphorus. When Vitaliano, repentant, comes in search of Ariadne, found only the body of the monster and then intends to win the girl's heart through his sincere repentance.
